It is a complete and utter waste of time contacting the Legal Ombudsman, as once again staff at the Ombudsman's office like Simon Entwistle, are selected by non other than the Law Society. They are swamped with client complaints, and consequently cannot cope with the influx. It is far easier for them to dismiss a claim, and hope you won't bother them anymore,than to spend time investigating your case. The Law Society and it's members top the list when it comes to "cover ups", simply because they do NOTHING to assist the public in a negligence claim. Judges also "cover up" serious solictor/barrister misconduct, and I have evidence to back up that claim.

We have Richard Hegarty, Chair of the Law Society's Compliance Board who we will now refer to as 'Dickie the Chair' who instructed Willoughby & Partners in London E14 9SG with a view to taking action against my hosting company. 'Dickie the Chair' rang me on the 6 Nov '03 trying to intimidate me with the comments I have put on this web site and according to Aman Virk, Manager, Quality & Service Standards at the Office for the Supervision of Solicitors also Richard Thomas, the Information Commissioner, they both say 'Dickie the Chair' was acting on "Law Society business", what does this tell us? Well as 'Dickie the Chair' is acting with the approval of the members of the Law Society Board let me name some of them; Chief Executive of the Law Society (who replied to me on behalf of Peter Williamson) Janet Paraskeva; The President of the Law Society (who I have previously written to) Peter Williamson; Vice President Edward Nally; Deputy Vice President (who told me 'Dickie' "hadn't disappeared") Kevin Martin; July 2004 it's that time when the 'President' line all shove up one. Self-regulation and discipline by the solicitor’s profession is in crisis. There is evidence of failure at all levels, from the efficient resolution of straightforward complaints, to ensuring the public is not exposed to dishonest solicitors. Changes by the Law Society in recent years have either failed to meet expectations or have diverted resources away from other problems. In this article I draw together a range of criticisms of the current approach to self-regulation and raise the question of whether or not the current regulatory model is sustainable. I will consider whether changes in the size and nature of the solicitors profession has resulted in the need for radical rethinking about the fundamental nature and structure of the regulatory system.

The Financial Services Authority ("FSA") today imposed a public censure on Berkeley Independent Advisers Limited ("BIA") for system and control breaches. These breaches resulted in a failure to monitor adequately a sales strategy which advocated the sale of non-pension products as an alternative means of saving for retirement and a failure to ensure the suitability of sales arising from this strategy.
The breaches, which occurred during the period December 2001 to September 2004, were made more serious by the fact that BIA had received numerous warnings, including four independent expert reports, about the way these products were being sold. BIA failed to act on these warnings and by doing so exposed 3,800 customers to risk of financial loss.
